If possible, please feel free to take a look at my CV:
Thanks for taking your time knowing about me. I was initiated as a classic piano player. Since the age of 5, tutored by a professional private piano teacher who graduated from the Chinese Dance Academy, I initially got in touch with Chinese and Western classical pieces composed by Haydn, Chopin, and Beethoven, as well as Er Nie and Peixun Chan. Every year, I attended the piano exam of the China Central Conservatory of Music, and eventually in 2013, I was licensed with the 9th piano performance, the highest level until the professional level. From then on, I continued on playing and practicing piano on my own with more advanced pieces while maintaining contacts with my piano teacher. Additionally, I was awarded with the First and Second Prizes in several municipal teenage piano competitions in Beijing by playing Glinka's "The Lark", Beethoven's "Third Chapter of Moonlight Sonata", and Liszt's "La Campanella". As time went on, piano became a supportive instrument along the way I compose or produce music, while enjoying the dulcet melodies.
As an international student from Beijing, with the support of my family and piano teacher, I was bestowed with precious changes to attend various concerts and drama performances. Especially, during traditional Chinese festivals, including but not limited to the Spring Festival, the Mid-Autumn Festival, and the Dragon Boat Festival, almost every venue, public squares or parks would help special ceremonies with Chinese music being played. Many times, I found myself fascinated by the breath-taking performances of sets of Chinese bass drums playing together, accompanied by the glissando of Pipas and Guzhengs.
What lead me into the interdisciplinary field of computer music was a fascinating Master Presentation at the Central Conservatory of Music. Amazed to acknowledge that computers bring unprecedented creativity to the melodies, timbres, and colors of music, I joined Northeastern University to study the combined major of computer science and music technology, where I have acquired systematic knowledge in both fields by studying software engineering, algorithms, music theories, acoustics, and digital signal processing. Due to my outstanding academic performance, I was on the Dean’s List of honor for every semester. Additionally, my comprehensive musical background and robust composition experience have earned me a precious internship opportunity as a sound designer and music composer at a large culture-communication company. Not only did I produced various sound effects, but also composed several pieces of background music with different genres by employing auto-composition technologies. Being a highly productive member in the content group, I gained full appreciation from my colleagues and my project managers.
If I am honored to be enrolled by a graduate program concentrated in computer music, composition, digital signal processing, and interactive interface design, I would be highly grateful, and dedicate in composing memorable pieces for media applications, including films and videos, or designing user interfaces and platforms for music production and culture exchange.
